One year ago a photo I took at a wedding brought me first place at the Sony World Photography Award 2012 in the Open category, Portrait. This competition is like the Oscars for photography and my picture was chosen among 112.000 photographs worldwide and was exhibited at the Somerset House in London. The ceremony and gala dinner took place at the gorgeous Hilton Hotel in London’s Park Lane.
William Klein, one of the 20th century’s most important and influential photographers and film-makers, received the Outstanding Contribution to Photography Award and was one of the special guests sitting by the table next to ours. This year another Slovenian photographer was named as the winner of the 3D category of the 2013 Sony World Photography Awards – Matjaž Tančič, congratulations!
